Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue was originally formed as a Rescue organization to help meet the needs of the Mat-Su Valley and its pet over population problems. The dogs and puppies taken in were literally saved from certain death. As an all-volunteer organization it hasn’t been easy but thanks to hundreds of dedicated and compassionate volunteers ADPR has continued to grow and succeed. We continue to rescue every week from the Mat-Su Borough Shelter and Houston Animal Control as well as the unexpected litters we take in from the public. Since our beginning in 2003, ADPR has rescued and placed over 1000 dogs a year. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, current on vaccinations and are kept in foster care until the right forever home is found for them.
We have a number of goals, big and small. We will continue to rescue, advocate and educate the public on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering. One of our goals is to be an asset not only to our rescued dogs and puppies but also to our community. We strive to be advocates for dogs in our community and elsewhere, and to educate the public on responsible pet ownership.
We have not reached our biggest goal: to start our own No-Kill Sanctuary in the Mat-Su Valley. Since 2007 we have been searching, fundraising and compaining for land to start this sanctuary. We have established a special account to start saving towards the purchase of land as we continue to fundraise and apply for grants.
Won't you please join us in our efforts? The need is so great and the ways to give are many. We always need volunteers and foster homes, the more help we have the more we can do! If you don't have time to spare, consider a tax-deductible donation. In 2008, we spent $15,000 for dog food, $9,100 for microships and $11,000 for rescue fees from animal control. You can donate via PayPal or by mail and no amount is to small.

If you have any free tiem to spare we are always in need of Volunteers for odd jobs, transporting dogs, helping at adoption clinics and spending time with the dogs and training them.
